"Mark Drummond and Grooveometri" is the nom d'artiste by which Mark Drummond produces original groove and chill jazz music. A guitarist and producer with a funky, soulful approach to smooth jazz and R&B, Mark honed his style performing in show bands throughout the Midwestern and Southern US.

This website is organized by the various areas of Mark's enterprise. CDs and downloads of original music are available to enjoy and purchase directly from this site, by clicking on the "Mark Drummond & Grooveometri" and "Yuletronica" profiles. To hear samples of Mark Drummond's smooth jazz work with keyboardist Daniel Nelson, for example, follow the links for "Daniel A. Nelson & Mark Drummond". For production, follow the "Mark Drummond Creative". links.
Mark spent years honing his style in Mid-South show bands before relocating to Southern California to pursue a career in broadcast radio. After establishing himself as a standout creative services professional in the Los Angeles market, the lure of performing became too strong, and joined a country-influenced original R&B group, "Cowboy Soul", on lead guitar. It was with this band that Drummond's Southern blues and rock roots were best heard, on several tracks he wrote and produced for the band's CD releases.

During this time Mark also hit his production stride, partnering with a successful Nigerian record company for a string of successful remixes that fused the raw energy of young Nigerian hip-hop artists and producers with digital production techniques into genre-bending dance and AfroPop compositions. With lifelong songwriting partner Aljay Boyd, Drummond composed and produced the soundtrack to the film short "Bringing Up BayBay" for Soleil Films.

Mark also contributed production skills and guitar to gospel jazz pianist Daniel A. Nelson's CD "Just A Touch". This collaboration yielded such a pleasing result that the two musicians teamed up for a smooth jazz CD, "2 Smoov 4 Words", now available by download or mail order from this website, CDBaby.com, Apple iTunes, and many other digital retailers.

After contributing to so many successful projects, Mark naturally decided to offer his own musical vision on a series of CD releases. With an eclectic track listing variously described as "R&B", "Funk", and "smooth jazz", 2008's "Six Strings One Love" is at once all and none of the above. From echoes of Wes Montgomery's octave melodies in the leadoff track, "Flow", to the all-out finger-licking funk of the Ohio Players' "Fire" motif installed into the ridiculously funky "P.R.G.", SSOL is a retrospective of the music that informs Drummond's guitar style.

A subsequent 2009 Internet-only release "Chilloutronica", a foray into abstract R&B instrumentals, offers tracks that are usually heard in professional office settings, lobbies, and spas. In 2009 Mark also released Yuletronica, a suite of smooth jazz Christmas and holiday favorites interpolated with contemporary arrangements and production.

All of Mark Drummond's CDs are available from www.cdbaby.com/cd/mdrum or by digital download and mail order from this website.

Mark continually endeavors to collaborate with other creative professionals to exploit our respective assets, resources, and experiences for personal, professional and spiritual fulfillment.
These collaborations range from formalized partnerships in the service of commercial ventures to the informal exchange of ideas and information with similarly occupied creators.
